The song was pretty poorly composed. The majority of the time is was just a mono synth with a highly repetitive beat behind it. You need to add more variety to the music, its very dull at the moment.

The samples you used, the girls singing and the high pitched "hiiiya" were pretty bad, especially that high pitched one. Poor choice of samples I think or at least poorly implemented.

The lyrics are well written but again poorly executed, the vocals just did not sit well at all. The vocals go out of key quite a bit which makes it a bit painful to listen to. Its very mid frequency heavy with little to no bass. I know you have a low voice underneath but it just sounds very very dull.

I think overall you need to expand on the composition, add more instruments and liven it up. Work on tuning the vocals more and making them more exciting. My biggest issue is that synth, is so weak and takes away from the song quite a bit.

Keep at it anyway, practice makes perfect.

I really appreciate the review buddy! I'm glad you mentioned the samples and what not because I am kinda new at this and had no idea how they sounded to others since i'm so conditioned to the song by this point. Thanks again for the awesome review.

I really didn't enjoy the chords, they were very common and also there is a number of nasty clashes especially from 52s onwards.
Putting that aside though...

The progression of this piece is very unique, very experimental which I enjoyed.
The timing is literally all over the place, everything seems to be out of time but in a weird way I really enjoyed that element of it.

You have a nice ear for melodies but I think you need to practice more on making coherent melodies that are in time.
Gonna keep a eye on your next few pieces, I want to see how you improve from this.

Thanks for feedback!

Very sweet piano, I'm impressed that you used a phone to record this.
The piano progressions get a bit repetitive but I still enjoyed them regardless.

The violin that comes in at 00:26 is very nice, it has a very sombre tone to it, great emotion behind it.
I think the title "Forgotten Love" is very appropriate, when I listen to this I get the mental image of a woman standing on almost like a etherial cloud looking out in the distance longing for her love who has since gone.
Its a very sweet piece over all.

4.5/5.
Good Job.

Thanks for that helpful review!! :D

Hmmmmmmmmmm..........

I think a bit of clarification on who did what would be nice but I guess I will write this review blind for the time being.
The piano is very nice and well written. I like the dull sound to it, its EQ'd just perfectly.

The strings were nice but a little dull, maybe EQ them a bit to make them brighter.

Overall its a nice piece, could use some more EQ work and a little bit of a better mix but its cool.
Good job you two.

"Yay! Thank you for listening and commenting! Honestly, both of us did a little bit of everything together haha, so it wasn't just one person did piano or one person did percussion. :) We will work harder in the future for sure. Again, thank you!"

Mawnz:
"I also did most(if not all) the EQ and mixing stuff so thank you for the feedback! :)"

The drums felt somewhat out of place, almost too rigid, but it was nice and maybe with some more work it will improve.

The piano and other melodic instruments are really nice, the flutes give off a very sweet feeling.

I enjoyed this, keep working at it :)

Thanks a lot for the review!

With that in mind, i do think i could change some stuff with the Drums.
Personally now, i think the snares need to relax, and be replaced with a lighter sound. That might fit better right? :)

I found the mix to be quite muddy, especially with mid frequencies.
The vocals were out of tune and didn't particularly suit the music, also some of the instruments were not mixed in very well and could be quite dominating in the mix.

Putting aside that I really like the composition and the tone of the piece. Its got a really nice vibe to it this song.
But again there are quite a few issues with this, with re-recorded vocals and a better mix this could be a really cool song.

3/5 for me but no denying this is a very strong composition with some awesome ideas in it.

SourJovis responds:

Thank you for your feedback. This is not a polished song. I couldn't finish it because I never received all of the vocal tracks. It's mixed a long time ago when I knew less about how to do it, etc, etc. But I like it because of its flaws. This is just how it turned out. This is how I know it. Everything has a cause and a reason why it is the way it is. So to me this is how it is supposed to be. I won't make another mix of this song. I do get what you mean though, and why you don't appreciate the quirkiness as much as I do. I like the melody and the chords too. It would be interesting to start over and make a cleaner version of the song. Now I have more experience, and where less things go wrong with the production (I hope). I will make it significantly different though, so it won't spoil the original for me. No vocals. Different build up probably. Sometimes different instruments. I'll see about that. Could be fun.

Its nice but it belongs in Ambient not cinematic. Although it may be used for a film or such that doesn't define it as cinematic, this is definitely a ambient piece.

Good job though
